Sworn translator and interpreter for Russian and German 

In the Spring of 2021, I successfully completed the course “German legal system and terminology” in Braunschweig, Germany, which allowed me to fulfil the necessary requirements for obtaining the title of a sworn translator and interpreter at the Higher Regional Court of the Land Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

Following the swearing-in procedure, I had the unique opportunity to put my theoretical knowledge into practice at the renowned translating agency AD-Sprachen in Hamburg. Thanks to this experience,  I was able to get a good insight into the nitty-gritty of the work of a sworn translator. 

1998 — today

Translator and interpreter for Russian, German and English

Ever since I was a girl, languages seemed to me something of a magic key to unknown literary and cultural worlds. This is why it almost went without saying that I would follow in my mother’s footsteps and choose a career in languages. 

When in the mid-90s Western companies flooded the newly opened Russian market, people with a good command of foreign languages became high in demand. This gave me an opportunity to put my language skills into practice and offer my services as a language trainer but also as a translator and interpreter. Throughout my career, I have had the chance to work with many companies.

To name but a few: 

• ECE Projektmanagement (interpreting – de-en-ru – during the real estate trade fair MIPIM in Cannes, France);
• Euler Hermes Kreditversicherung (translating – de-en-ru – political correspondence for a Board member);
• Dierkes&Partner (translating – en-de – financial and legal documents);
• Dierkes Lemke (translating – de-en-ru – the website, a due diligence report, financial documents);
• Söring (interpreting – de-ru – during meetings and negotiations);
• Jungheinrich (interpreting – de-en-ru – during in-company training activities).

1997–2017

Teacher of English and Russian to adults, Moscow, Russia, then Hamburg, Germany 

For over 20 years, I taught English and Russian to the employees of different companies as well as to private individuals, first in Moscow, Russia, and then in Hamburg, Northern Germany. My job involved designing courses tailored to the students’ individual language needs and levels. This required me to get a deep insight into the students’ respective professional fields, learn about their work in terms of the relevant terminology and find out the context of the required language use. I use the exact same approach in my work as a translator and interpreter while preparing for each task.

During my work as a language teacher, I became familiar, among other things, with the following fields of business and the terminology involved:

• architecture and construction (ECE Projektmanagement);
• real estate (Engel&Völkers);
• construction and real estate financing (HSH Nordbank, EuroHypo which later became Hypo Real Estate);
• export credit insurance (Euler Hermes Kreditversicherung AG);
• law, tax, audit (Dierkes&Partner Rechtsanwälte).

During many years of practice as a translator and interpreter as well as a trainer, I became particularly knowledgeable in the following fields: 

• architecture and construction, 
• city planning
• real estate,
• law, in particular real estate-related law.

• My choice of profession is based not on coincidence but on my lifelong love for its subject matter; 
• my native language as well as those I’ve learnt are of a very high standard, and I invest in their constant perfection;
• regular participation in further training activities relevant to my work;
• membership at the German Association of Translators and Interpreters, BDÜ, which can be seen as a quality assurance in itself, as in order to become a member, one must fulfil very strict requirements with regard to qualifications and experience; 
• I see a thorough preparation for each task as a crucial condition for the high quality of my work; the rules of professional ethics, such as punctuality and confidentiality, are of the greatest importance to me.
